The pool sand filter is one of the core components of pool filtration system, and it is common pool filtration equipment. The pool water is physically trapped and filtered through the quartz sand layer to remove the pollution in the pool water and provide a clear, healthy and clean water environment. A swimming pool is a place where people engage in swimming sports, divided into two kinds:indoor and outdoor , which are especially widely used in summer. Due to the use by many people, there are too many impurities in swimming pools. To ensure the health of swimmers, the pool water needs to be filtered frequently to keep the pool water clean. How is the water in the pool recycled? What role does the pool sand filter play in the circulating water system of the swimming pool? How to replace the quartz sand in the pool sand filter? This article will answer them all.
How is the water in the pool recycled
The working principle of the sand cylinder is to filter pollutants through the filtration of the filter material layer in the filter. The filter material in the general pool filter sand tank is quartz sand, and its particle size and density have strict requirements. The particle size is generally required to be between 0.4-0.8mm to ensure the filtration effect. In terms of density, the density of quartz sand is required to be between 1.4-1.6 grams/cubic centimeter, so as to ensure the normal operation of the pool filter. If the particle size and density do not meet the requirements, it will affect the filter effect and the filter life.
The role of pool sand filter in the circulating water system of swimming pool
When using the pool sand filter, the sand tank should be placed in an appropriate position in the equipment room to ensure that the pool pump is properly connected, and the water is introduced into the filter through the drainage pipe at the bottom of the pool, and then the clean water is discharged back to the pool through the filtration effect of quartz sand.
After the sand cylinder filter is used for a period of time, it is necessary to backwash the sand cylinder or replace the quartz sand to ensure its normal filtration effect.
Method and procedure for replacing quartz sand in pool sand filter
- After the sand cylinder is used for a certain time, the quartz sand inside has been bundled, and backwashing can no longer solve the problem, then the filter material quartz sand inside needs to be replaced.
- Close the circulating pump in the pool and the inlet and outlet water valve of the sand cylinder.
- Open the drain valve of the sand cylinder and drain the water in the sand cylinder.
- Remove the sand cylinder head
- Remove the filter sand from the top with a tool and pour it into a plastic bag or other container that can be discarded.
- Remove the filter sand and check whether the internal filter tube needs to be replaced due to wear and damage
- Pour a certain amount of water into the sand tank and pour in the new filter sand, taking care not to fill it too full.
Swimming pool sand filter sand change precautions
Usually, the sand tank filtration system of the swimming pool is replaced with quartz sand once every 1-2 years. Open the pool sand filter, clean up the original sand and dirt, and select sand with eight edges and corners in the shape of a regular hexahedron. Quartz sand in the stacking within the sand cylinder between each corner and corner of the quartz sand will produce gaps, these gaps can allow water to pass smoothly and impurities greater than the gap can not pass, so that it can play the role of purification. The size of the void determines the filtration accuracy of the sand cylinder. When the void is small, the filtration accuracy is higher. However, if the void is too small, the water yield of the entire sand layer will decrease, thus affecting the water yield of the sand cylinder. Therefore, the gap between the quartz sand determines the filtration effect, and the size and integrity of the quartz sand directly determine the size of the quartz sand voids. Therefore, it can also be known that this is an important factor in the sand tank filtration.
- After the sand is laid, install the pool sand filter and ensure to check the tightness.
- Before changing the sand, waterproof materials (such as plastic, etc.) should be used to completely cover the electrical components near the sand tank to prevent burning.
- When filling the sand, the center pipe should be sealed with raw material tape to prevent sand from entering the center pipe.
- When cleaning the sand, be sure to wash first and then backwash, pay attention to observe the pressure gauge during backwash, if the pressure exceeds 3kg during backwash, it should be switched to forward wash immediately.
